Tshwane General Worker Job Purpose
To assist the team leader in executing wastewater collection tasks, including:
- Clearing sewer blockages
- Performing basic maintenance on the wastewater collection network
- Supporting pipe repair operations through excavation and backfilling
Key Responsibilities
As a General Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Clearing sewer blockages safely and efficiently
- Excavating and backfilling trenches using hand tools such as shovels, pickaxes, rakes, and rammers
- Assisting in repairing sewer network pipes
- Following safety guidelines and operational procedures at all times
- Supporting the team leader in day-to-day operations
Minimum Application Requirements for Tshwane General Worker
- Ability to perform manual labour duties
- Basic literacy skills
- Relevant experience in wastewater network maintenance (advantageous)
- Physically fit and healthy, with no back problems
- Willing to work shifts, standby, and overtime when required
- Willing to undergo a criminal record check (fingerprints to be taken by Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost)
