About the Volkswagen Technical Learnership

Volkswagen Group South Africa is offering a Volkswagen Technical Learnership for motivated young talent who want to build a career in a technical trade. This full-time programme is facilitated by the Technical Learning Academy (TLA) and aims to uplift technical skills within the organisation and surrounding communities. The programme is run in partnership with the Union and offers structured training, mentorship, and workplace experience.

Available Learnership Fields

As part of the Volkswagen Technical Learnership, applicants may choose one of the following trade fields:

  • Electrical
  • Mechanical Fitter
  • Millwright
  • Automotive Motor Mechanic
  • Tool Making
  • Welding
  • Transportation Electrician
  • Mechatronics Technician

Minimum Entry Requirements

To qualify for the Volkswagen Technical Learnership, applicants must have:

  • Matric with core Mathematics and Physical Science (Maths Literacy will not be accepted)
  • N3 certificate (4 subjects including Mathematics and Physical Science) or higher
  • Willingness to study part-time while in the programme
  • Ability to choose a 1st and 2nd choice trade

Additional Selection Information

Shortlisted candidates:

  • Will attend an interview
  • Must be willing to complete studies on a part-time basis
  • Will not work overtime during the programme (unless authorised)
  • Must upload all required documents on the online platform

Documents to Upload (Compulsory)

  • Certified ID copy (not older than 3 months)
  • Certified highest school/college qualification (not older than 3 months)
  • Full motivation letter stating why you want to join the programme and your preferred field (e.g., Electrical, Fitting, Mechatronics, etc.)
  • Working cellphone number and an alternative contact number
  • Current job title and SAP number

Important Notes

  • Previous TLA Apprenticeship/Learnership graduates will not be considered
  • Successful internal applicants will return to a suitable role in Production after completion
  • Only online applications via the HelloSuccess platform will be accepted
