The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) invites applications for Security Officer X2 positions at the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court. These roles are ideal for candidates with a Grade 10 qualification, PSIRA registration, and a passion for safety and security in a public service environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 (ABET Level 2) minimum
  • Relevant experience in security; Grade 12 will be an advantage
  • PSIRA Basic Security Officer’s Course certification
  • Driver’s license is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of:
    • Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act
    • Security procedures and emergency protocols
    • Control of equipment, stores, and classified documents
  • Skills:
    • Communication and interpersonal skills
    • Problem-solving and decision-making
    • Client service and listening skills
    • Computer literacy and report writing

Duties & Responsibilities

Security Officers will be responsible for:

  • Performing access control functions at entry points
  • Verifying visitor appointments and directing them to the correct service point
  • Issuing admission documents and using walk-through metal detectors
  • Monitoring vehicles, equipment, and stores entering and leaving the premises
  • Operating CCTV and other security monitoring systems
  • Recording incidents accurately in occurrence registers
  • Conducting building and perimeter patrols
  • Responding to emergencies (bomb scares, riots, alarms) and alerting relevant authorities
  • Reporting breaches, non-compliance, and security risks to supervisors
  • Performing any additional duties as assigned by the Court Manager
