Job Purpose (Picker and Packer)
The primary purpose of this role is to:
- Accurately pick goods from picking lists against customer orders
- Pack products onto shelves or into delivery areas according to company standards
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, safety, and organisation
- Support overall warehouse efficiency and customer satisfaction
Key Responsibilities
Picking
- Pick stock accurately according to picking slips
- Verify correctness of all items picked
- Complete picking slips with required details (name, date, weight, dimensions, signatures)
- Communicate any anomalies such as quantity or product differences
- Report any stock discrepancies immediately
Packing
- Pack stock into correct bin locations or storage areas
- Wrap products according to company guidelines to ensure protection
- Prepare goods for shipment or delivery
- Load products onto vehicles according to company standards
- Ensure proper handling to prevent damage during storage or transport
Warehouse Assistance
- Maintain neat, organised, and clearly binned stock
- Perform stock receiving, counting, and regular inventory checks
- Load and unload products from vehicles and containers
- Assist drivers during deliveries for offloading or loading at customer sites
- Keep the warehouse clean and sanitary (sweeping, dusting, removing debris)
- Assist other positions in the warehouse if operational needs arise
- Drive company vehicles if holding a valid driver’s license and follow safe driving practices
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and signed paperwork
- Provide excellent customer service at all times
SHEQ & Safety Compliance
- Adhere to the OHS Act and company safety rules
- Wear PPE at all times and follow health and safety procedures
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately
- Participate in Integrated Management System activities
- Identify opportunities for improvement and report non-conformances
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping and warehouse hygiene
Requirements
Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year in a similar warehouse or logistics role
Knowledge:
- Basic numerical calculations
- Practical knowledge of warehouse best practices
- Awareness of ISO standards relevant to warehouse operations
Skills:
- Accurate picking and packing of items with attention to quantity and quality
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work under deadlines
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in the warehouse
