About the Role (Handyman)

Broll Property Group is seeking a Handyman to maintain the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, repairing equipment, and assisting with routine building upkeep. You will also maintain records of all maintenance work, support tenant needs, and ensure the property remains safe, functional, and presentable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance on building equipment and systems.
  • Respond efficiently to maintenance requests from tenants and management.
  • Inspect the building’s interior and exterior to identify potential maintenance issues.
  • Check lighting, plumbing, HVAC systems, fire equipment, and other essential infrastructure.
  • Perform minor repairs; escalate larger issues to the building supervisor.
  • Maintain work orders, repair logs, and equipment maintenance records.
  • Assist with tenant installations, relocations, and move-ins, ensuring premises are ready for use.
  • Follow all health, safety, and OSHA regulations while performing tasks.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by management.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with tenants, management, and area staff.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and secure at all times.

Requirements

  • Education: Standard Eight (Grade 10) minimum; additional training in maintenance or repair is advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Basic maintenance and repair knowledge.
    • Ability to read and follow blueprints.
    • Strong hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
    • Familiarity with building safety protocols and preventive maintenance procedures.
