About the Farm Aid Opportunity

The Western Cape Department of Agriculture is recruiting a Farm Aid to support daily farming operations at Outeniqua. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, working with animals, crops and maintaining farm infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic literacy and numeracy (ABET Level 3/Grade 7).
  • Ability to handle physical tasks and carry loads up to 50kg.
  • Knowledge of general farm work, animal care and farm maintenance.
  • Basic communication skills.
  • A Code B or higher driver’s licence will be an advantage.
  • People with disabilities who can access transport are encouraged to apply.
  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate).
  • Proven experience in general farm work, livestock care and crop production.
  • Experience maintaining farm infrastructure such as fencing, pipelines, buildings and water systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with crop production activities including planting, irrigation and harvesting.
  • Support livestock care, including feeding, dosing, dipping and daily handling.
  • Carry out general farm activities such as cleaning, loading materials and maintaining water systems.
  • Maintain farm fences, roads, pipelines and infrastructure as required.
