Casual Workers Overview
The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is seeking Casual Workers, energetic and motivated individuals to join the Tropical & Subtropical Crops (ARC-TSC) team in Nelspruit. This short-term opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in practical agricultural experience and hands-on learning in orchard management, crop maintenance, and research support.
You will work under the supervision of skilled professionals and contribute directly to the successful running of ARC-TSC operations, including field trials and orchard management. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general orchard tasks and routine maintenance.
- Assist with manual tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Ensure effective protection of field trials from animals and environmental factors.
- Operate, maintain, and care for farm tools and equipment.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices and farm operations.
- Familiarity with manual operation of farm equipment and machinery.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Willingness to work in varying and adverse weather conditions.
Additional Information

- Permanent appointments require a six-month probation period.
