About the Role (Administration Clerk)

The Department of Defence invites applications for the position of Administration Clerk: Production at the SA Army Headquarters Unit, Pretoria. This role involves providing clerical and administrative support, managing records, handling correspondence, and ensuring efficient office operations within the Directorate.

Salary

R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (Level 05)
Appointment is subject to a 12-month probation period and signing a performance agreement.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
  • No prior experience required
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Knowledge of clerical duties and data capturing
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Organising, coordinating, and record-keeping skills
    • Telephone etiquette, creativity, and innovation
    • Ability to interact professionally at all levels

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform general clerical duties including filing, typing letters, and handling incoming/outgoing correspondence
  • Update registers, statistics, and maintain personnel and attendance records
  • Distribute documents/packages to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage office stationery, petty cash, and telephone accounts
  • Conduct stocktaking and ensure proper safekeeping of equipment and stores
  • Arrange travel and accommodation for officials, verify travel claims, and submit for approval
  • Liaise with stakeholders regarding procurement and quotation processes
  • Attend weekly coordination and communication meetings
  • Maintain effective logistical support and ensure smooth functioning of the Directorate
