The City of Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is recruiting 200 Metro Police Trainees for its 2025 intake. This opportunity is ideal for young, disciplined individuals looking to build a career in law enforcement and serve their local communities.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for 200 Metro Police Trainee, applicants must:

  • Have a Grade 12 (Matric) qualification (submit proof)
  • Hold a valid manual driving licence and pass a TMPD driving test
  • Be between 18–35 years old
  • Be a South African citizen and resident of Tshwane Metro (attach proof of address & affidavit if surnames differ)
  • Have no criminal record or pending cases (background check & fingerprinting at own cost)
  • Be competent to possess a firearm (no restrictions per Firearms Control Act, Act 60 of 2000)
  • Be physically & medically fit (submit medical certificate)
  • Pass a psychometric and English proficiency test
  • Have no visible tattoos while in uniform
  • Be willing to sign the TMPD Code of Conduct

Applicants listed on the Sexual or Child Offenders Register, or previously dismissed from government due to misconduct, will not be considered.

Core Responsibilities

Once trained and appointed, Metro Police Trainees will:

  • Enforce the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996)
  • Perform traffic policing duties
  • Enforce municipal by-laws and regulations
  • Participate in crime prevention operations
