Job Description

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

✅ Education:

  • Grade 10 or equivalent
  • National Certificate Level 2 in Trade and Occupational Qualifications (Mining)
  • Blasting Certificate

✅ Experience & Certifications:

  • 2-3 years of mining experience
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Medically fit for underground work
  • Clear security screening record

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance (SHEQ):

  • Maintain SHE standards and ensure compliance in the workplace.
  • Conduct risk assessments and address workplace hazards.
  • Participate in SHEQ investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform safety behavior observations (SBOs).

Mining Operations & Supervision:

  • Monitor and control mining teams and processes.
  • Provide problem-solving support to mining teams.
  • Conduct statutory and daily entry examinations.
  • Maintain underground ventilation systems and workplace safety.

Blasting & Drilling Activities:

  • Supervise face preparation, marking, drilling, charging, and blasting activities.
  • Conduct face profiling, socket checks, and identify non-conformances.
  • Perform secondary blasting and monitor explosive handling procedures.

Mining Development & Maintenance:

  • Oversee underground construction, tramming, and secondary support.
  • Monitor and control the installation of ventilation systems.
  • Ensure effective cleaning and sweeping procedures post-blasting.

End-of-Shift Duties & Reporting:

  • Conduct shift handovers and update shift communication logs.
  • Submit miner logbooks and report on completed shift activities.
